The Accountancy Profession Strategic Forum (APSF) is a community of national Professional Accountancy Organisations (PAOs) focused on proactively developing strategies to enhance their role and relevance in national economic life and the public interest.
The APSF facilitates interactive exchanges of perspectives while enabling peer-to-peer discussions on the strategic direction and ambition of individual professional bodies. It provides a framework to encourage and assist PAOs to strengthen their relevance and their contribution to economic growth in the public interest.
In addition to the annual meeting there are two initiatives that meet throughout the year, the Quality Assurance Network for Non-PIE Audit (QAN) and the Financial Integrity Network (FIN).
Putting professional bodies at the centre
The Accountancy Profession Strategic Forum (APSF) provides a framework to encourage and assist participating professional accountancy organisations (PAOs) to strengthen their relevance and their contribution to economic growth in the public interest.
Since the first roundtable in 2012, the APSF continues to facilitate highly interactive exchanges of perspectives on critically important issues for the profession while enabling peer-to-peer discussions on the strategic direction and ambition of individual PAOs.
Several collaborative initiatives have evolved out of the annual meeting of all PAOs. These initiatives enable different groupings of PAOs to come together in a practical, cost-effective and outward-looking way.
A core objective of the APSF and associated work streams is that of enhancing interaction between PAOs and the national, European and international regulatory community to encourage better collaboration and shared understanding of the challenges facing the profession.
The APSF was launched and is supported by ICAEW. It reflects our belief that a well-functioning accountancy profession is a fundamental pillar of successful economies.
Proactively developing strategies to enhance PAOs’ relevance and role in economic life and in the public interest.
Encouraging collaboration between participating PAOs and providing a platform for open exchange.
Working towards enhancing quality through our distinct initiatives, the Quality Assurance Network and the Financial Integrity Network.
Engaging with Public Oversight Bodies to achieve common goals.
Driving positive change in the accountancy profession through constant innovation in education, responding to technological transformation.
"The reason that the APSF discussions are so valuable
is that so many different perspectives are brought
to the table. But the value of the APSF does not stop
here: it can continue at the individual country and
PAO level where the experiences shared within the
annual meeting can be put into effect."
Dr Martin Manuzi, Chairman, APSF
"The APSF initiative has grown in relevance year after year, reflecting a wider recognition of the fact that national economies can only fulfill their potential when they have a well-functioning PAO. Proactive strategic planning and innovation among professional accountancy organizations, whose aim is to continue to be relevant and contribute to market needs, are ultimately the most critical areas for the future of the profession. We, as CAFR, remain committed to the APSF as well as other relevant initiatives in the public interest.”
Dr. Ciprian Teodor Mihăilescu, President, CAFR, Romania
