APSF 2013 in Sofia, was organised in cooperation with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Bulgaria (ICPAB). In total, 26 national professional accountancy organisations from 22 countries across Europe attended. The World Bank, IFAC, FEE, EGIAN and the European Commission also contributed to the discussion, alongside senior representatives of the Bulgarian public oversight and regulatory community.
The meeting focused on concrete steps PAOs can take to enhance their strategic development.
At the formal opening, ICPAB President, Boyko Kostov welcomed ICAEW’s initiative to evolve the first regional meeting in Sinaia into an annual APSF meeting which: ‘creates a community of national professional accountancy organisations focused on proactively developing strategies to enhance their role and relevance in national economic life.’
